 US Claims Intel Fed to Ukraine Helped ‘Kill’ Russian Generals – NY Times 


Real-time intelligence handed to Kiev has helped Ukraine kill an unspecified number of Russian generals, the NY Times reported Thursday, citing senior US military officials.


Ukrainian officials estimate that they have killed 12 generals, but it remains unclear how many they attribute to location data provided. 


A National Security spox denied, however, that the intelligence was provided “with the intent to kill Russian generals”.

 Shell Fuel Windfall Tax Calls After Posting RECORD $9.13bn Quarterly Profits


Shell reported a record Q1 profit of $9.13bn Thursday as soaring energy prices boost their bottom line despite writing down $3.9bn following their partial withdrawal from Russia.


The company will maintain two contracts with a “small, independent Russian producer”, still has long-term contracts to import Russian LNG, and maintains $1bn of Russia assets according to CFO Sinead Gorman.


The company also reported $5.4bn in dividend and share purchase payments. Britain’s Labour Party, meanwhile, is calling for a windfall tax to ease the burden of the energy price surge.

 Shareholders SUE Netflix For Lying About Subscriber Growth


Netflix shareholders filed a lawsuit against the streaming platform Wednesday, accusing the streaming platform of defrauding investors by failing to disclose dropping subscriber numbers.


Last month Netflix reported losing almost 200,000 subscribers in Q1 of 2022 and expects 2mn more to leave in coming months, leading to a 25% drop in share prices within hours.


While the company has gained 500,000 subscribers from other countries this year so far, it lost 700,000 from Russia following its withdrawal from the country after the conflict in Ukraine began.

 Restoring Russia/Ukraine Production Vital To Global Food Security - UN


UN Sec Gen Antonio Guterres has admitted there is “no true solution” to global food security without restoring production of Russia and Ukraine’s agricultural, as well as Russia’s fertilizer trade, into world markets.


He highlighted the struggles of sub-Saharan African nations struggling to make ends meet as sanctions force rocketing prices and depleted supplies by cutting Russian exports.


"We need to ensure a steady flow in food and energies through open markets by lifting all unnecessary export restrictions, directing surpluses and reserves to those in need," Guterres said.
