Russia “Full Mobilization” Reports FALSE - Duma Speaker Volodin

Moscow has flatly denied CNN reports, citing unnamed Western officials, that Russia is planning a full mobilization of forces by Monday’s Victory Day - when the defeat of Nazi Germany is celebrated.

Deputy head of the Russian parliament’s Defense Committee Yuri Shvydkin claimed “the rumors based on foreign sources are being spread in an attempt to sow confusion and panic among the population”.

Kremlin spox Dmitry Peskov dismissed claims in the CNN report that President Putin was planning to exploit the “symbolic significance and propaganda value” of May 9 as “lies and nonsense”.

 Europe can’t replace Russian gas – Shell CEO

European countries will not be able to replace Russian natural gas without an energy transition, according to Shell CEO Ben van Beurden.

Increasing gas supplies from Africa and Scandinavia as well as boosting purchases of LNG is not enough, the Shell chief said Thursday - Russia supplies about 40$ of the natural gas consumed in the region.

"There is no way to simply buy more pipeline gas and LNG to completely replace all the Russian gas that we currently consume. This is not feasible,” van Beurden said.

 7 in 10 French Fear Ukraine Escalation Will Drag Paris Into War

A new poll by the CSA Institute for CNEWS released Thursday shows 72% of French people are worried their country will be drawn into the conflict escalation in Ukraine.

According to the poll the fears are shared equally across the political divide, with those supporting Marine Le Pen’s National Assembly party showing the greatest concerns (80%).

79% of women were concerned at France’s potential involvement compared to 65% men, while 18-24-year-olds showed the least concern (57%) of age groups.

 ‘Explosive device’ found at Russian journalist compound in Berlin

A suspicious package was found at a Berlin compound housing journalists with Russia’s RIA Novosti late on Friday. The editor-in-chief of the media group, Margarita Simonyan, said the package turned out to be an explosive device, citing German police.

“The Berlin police confirmed that an explosive device was planted in the house where our journalists live,” she said in a social media post.

A dramatic rise in the cost of living has prompted many Britons to consider leaving the UK, according to professionals catering to aspiring expats. Google searches for moving abroad were up by 1,000% in April, with the US, Canada, and Australia the top three desired destinations.

The Telegraph first reported the alarming trend Friday, attributing the desire to emigrate to “the cost of living squeeze, as soaring energy prices and rising inflation ravage household budgets.”

 White House outlines latest Ukraine weapons package

Washington has authorized yet another tranche of weapons for Ukraine’s armed forces, agreeing to send tens of millions of dollars in munitions and military hardware following a flurry of similar transfers in recent weeks. 

The White House announced the move in a Friday press release, touting the “historical amount of security assistance” provided to Kiev since Russia launched its attack on February 24.
