  Refugee Hypocrisy: Germany Evicts Afghans for Ukrainians 

Germany is booting out people who fled the Taliban, as a larger wave of Ukrainian refugees arrive. One family were given 24hrs to clear out their home by social workers - to be replaced by Ukrainians. (Foreign Policy)

In another case, a social activist called Arween faced threats for two years in Afghanistan. He was helped out the country by Berlin, but it's claimed he's now being shunted aside.

“The evictions purposefully weren’t publicized. Some people had lived in their homes for years and were ripped out of their social structures, including children who were moved to locations far from their respective schools,” said Tareq Alaows, a board member of the Berlin Refugee Council.

Tareq says many are afraid to speak out, in case it affects their immigration status, something not likely to impact people coming from Ukraine.

 ⚡️‘Talks Stall’: Russian FM Addresses Diplomatic Standstill around Ukraine

Sergey Lavrov has said talks with Ukraine have ground to a halt, claiming that Kiev’s “unresponsiveness” is a major factor.

The Russian Foreign Minister added the Zelensky admin has outright ignored Moscow’s latest proposals. Despite that, Lavrov added Russia is ready to approve some of the Kiev-proposed conditions, such as the list of nation-guarantors for Ukraine’s sovereignty.

The minister also responded to comments from Kiev about the capture of Mariupol being potentially irreversible for the ongoing diplomatic effort between Kiev and Moscow. 

“We don’t accept any ultimatums,” Lavrov said.

 UK Allows Gazprombank Gas Payments till end of May

The Treasury has issued a temporary license allowing payments for Russian gas to be made to Gazprombank - which the UK, but not the EU, has sanctioned - until the end of May.

Moscow had demanded that Russian gas buyers open ruble and foreign currency accounts with Gazprombank or face a halt in supply. April bills are due to be settled next month.

There is nothing to indicate that genocide is being perpetrated in Ukraine amid the Russian military operation, according to UN Human Rights Office spox Ravina Shamdasani.

US President Joe Biden, and other leaders, has casually thrown around claims of genocide in Ukraine - a heavy allegation under international law.

 Japan Ramps up Russia Territorial Tensions with “Illegal Occupation” Claims

Tokyo has hardened its stance on the Southern Kurils, claiming for the first time in almost two decades that the disputed islands are “illegally occupied” and that they're an “inherent” part of Japanese territory.

The Asian nation's Foreign Policy report, known as the Bluebook, also slammed Russia’s operation in Ukraine for undermining “the foundation of international order, not only in Europe but also in Asia”.

Kremlin spox Dmitry Peskov responded by saying Japan has become an unfriendly country for Russia, making it very difficult to discuss the continuation of peace talks on the Kuril Islands.
